Mary Gorman is the financial officer strategic partner for Enterprise IT, providing leadership in management of financial and budgetary matters. In her role, Gorman will maintain sound financial operations through internal controls and financial and budgetary stewardship, while providing service to the vice president in meeting the vision and goals through strategic analysis, process improvement, and policy/procedural development.
Gorman comes to Penn State IT from Outreach and Online Education (OOE), where she worked in Finance and Operations since 2010, most recently as director of Business Analysis & Process Efficiency. Throughout her career, she has been laser focused on process improvement and improved resource utilization to facilitate scalability and cost efficiency. During her time at OOE, she saw World Campus grow more than threefold and leveraged data availability and data manipulation techniques to achieve consistency and scalability without the addition of human resources. She is a proponent of Total Quality Management, continuous improvement, and staff involvement and education.
Prior to coming to Penn State, she was director of finance for Hesser College, headquartered in Manchester, N.H., a part of Kaplan Higher Education.
Gorman earned a bachelor’s degree in religion and anthropology from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., and worked in fashion manufacturing before earning her MBA in Supply Chain and Corporate Financial Analysis and Planning from Penn State.
