Lynette Yarger is the 2018-2019 Administrative Fellow in the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology/CIO. She is working with Michael Kubit to gain knowledge and experience pertaining to the challenges of IT leadership in the academic community.
Yarger is an associate professor in the College of Information Sciences and Technology. Her research, which examines how underserved groups utilize information and communication technologies to improve their quality of life, has been supported by: the National Science Foundation; the Oracle Help Us Help Foundation; the Penn State Africana Research Center; the Penn State Social Science Research Institute; and the Penn State Children, Youth and Family Consortium. Prior to joining the faculty at Penn State, she worked as a software engineer at AT&T, a member of the technical staff at Lucent Technologies, and a product lifecycle manager at Avaya Communications.
Yarger has received numerous awards, including: the National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award; the College of IST George J. McMurtry Teaching and Learning Award; and the 2014 Penn State Teaching Fellow Award. She earned a Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems from the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University.
