As associate vice president for Business Intelligence, Jon Crutchfield engages with students, faculty, and staff members to develop and implement strategies to enhance the University’s use of data. This is achieved by investing in people, processes, and technologies to better report and assess data to gain strategic insight and differentiation. He leads a talented team dedicated to delivering correct data, in the right format, at the right time, and to the right people, to help them make decisions to improve teaching, learning, research, and operations. Crutchfield collaborates with units throughout the University to develop data governance in a sustainable manner with a focus on continuous improvement.
Crutchfield came to Penn State from the University of Notre Dame. He most recently was director of IT for the Mendoza College of Business, where he oversaw the development of a cloud-hosted infrastructure to deliver data and analytical/visualization tools to students. Prior to his work at the Mendoza College of Business, he served as program manager for mobileND. In that role he developed a campus-wide strategy to integrate mobile technologies throughout the University’s enterprise IT and academic environments.
