Erika Shoffner comes to Penn State IT from Outreach and Online Education, where she served as the HR strategic partner since 2012. She led the HR team with a shared commitment to providing employees a work environment with equal opportunity for learning, personal growth, and shared information. During her time in OOE, she developed leadership curriculum that helped to drive the mission, vision, and goals to an applicable level; worked to improve communications and transparency; and worked on a strong partnership with leadership and the organization as a whole. Shoffner has a passion for coaching, counseling, strategic workforce management, and conflict resolution.
She joined Penn State after eight years with GE (General Electric), where she held positions in human resources at manufacturing plants, then leadership positions regionally and globally.
Shoffner earned a bachelor’s in labor and industrial relations and a master of professional studies in human resources and employment relations, both from Penn State, and a senior professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. She teaches a senior-level class in HR for Penn State.
